the edges of my life

stepping outside for the first time

"Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right

Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right

Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes

Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right

Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
It's all right, it's all right"

George Harrison

For a small group of 8 bears it was a huge day today - they got to step outside for the first time since they were captured by the bear farms..... sun on their faces, wind, grass under their feet.... one bear kept high stepping - like a cat on snow as if the grass tickled.... it was one of those moments in life I will never forget - the reason I am here after all - to restore some zest for life for these abused animals - to try and make up for all the pain other humans have put them through

crappy photo but I wanted to show the scale of things

over the next few weeks we'll be carefully introducing new bears to the group until we have 20 in this enclosure

on the other side of this enclosure should be a mirror image - home for another 20 bears - but a corrupt forestry official who wants to build a resort for rich men on our bear land has put a halt to us building any further by throwing all sorts of ridiculous legal obstacles in our way - like claiming we are polluting the environment - which is a huge joke if any of you know Vietnam - our area is one of the cleanest in the country - we have a biobased water recycling facility and a strict no rubbish, no polluting policy....
we will win this fight - but it is causing us to keep bears in temporary indoor dens when they should be outside... grrrrrr

anyways - back to happy thoughts - I'm sure these bears will sleep well tonight - it's been a great way to end a long shift
