Northcourt barns

What a dull, wet, miserable day :(

This blip was taken on a quick in-between-showers cycle ride to my local Post Office which is located directly opposite these 16th century barns. The origins go back even further: a barn was first built here by Abingdon Abbey in 1270.

The barns belong to a church on the same site. Christ Church Abingdon have raised £2 million to open up the barns and provide a coffee shop and community facilities.

I love old buildings (it's hard not to when living in one of the five claimants to be Britain's oldest town!) and will be watching the progress with interest. It has already been delayed by 6 months due to nesting bats so it's nice to see they have finally got started and lovely to get peeks inside something that has always been closed off and inaccessible.
