Sunday 29 April 2012: The Archway

Today there was a drystane dyking event at Wooplaw Community Woodland near Lauder. We were repairing a dyke and adding cheek ends after making a gap for a new path through the wall. We also made an archway over the burn. There were ten of us working on various parts of the wall. It was great to learn more about cheek ends, but I was especially pleased to find out how an archway is built from dry stone. A great day out in beautiful woodland.
