Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Book Women

There's a lot of talking going on here now. :-) It rained all night but not anywhere near a record! And when we went to pick up my book club, it was merely cloudy., and we could have lunch on the deck outside! I love my book club friends! We have been together for 21 years and have been having camp here every summer for 18 years. Every year at camp we pick a book by an African American in honor of one of our original book club members, V, who was African American, loved coming to the island, and died far too young of breast Ca. This year's book is The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson. I'll report on all our books and discussion another day.........and will get a portrait of our group. maybe tomorrow. :-)

Here on the deck, MM is reading an article in BookWomen, a publication from the Minnesota Women's Press to which some of us subscribe. M, on the purple jacket, was interviewed for the article about her book clubs and books she reads. It was a great fun article that came yesterday (mine will be waiting in Seattle) , with her photo on the front cover, "Rooted on Reading"
