Still smokey but pretty

We are scheduled to get RAIN for the next 5 days! Everyone is delighted (we live here because we like grey days) but now the concern is that the rain will come with such fury that the baked soil will be unable to absorb it and flooding will result. A great deal of our soil is clay which has a very fine grain and when it bakes the spaces between the grains of soil are so tiny that nothing can penetrate between to sink in. So now we could use some flooding prayers, if you're not worn out from the rain ones :)
I have added a couple of other photos of the city in the evening and one of the ferry in the rain from the one day we had a few weeks ago. People were giddy with excitement--we're a bit dull as a group :)

Taking the ferry back and forth in the evening has opened up an entirely new local culture I never knew existed. So many people, dressed in suits and stockings and heels, heads lolling against their car headrest as they wait for the ferry home. Once aboard, however, they hightail it up top for a glass of wine and a tiny bag of peanuts. I was amazed, really, it's only a half hour ride, but they must feel so tuckered from the day that they need a little tipple to celebrate that the day is OVER I guess.
Then this morning I saw a women plucking her eyebrows in a seat upstairs by the window. Really? Am I sailing in your boudoir?
:)
