Friday 22 June 2012: Edinburgh welcomes careful divers

I always think of the path along the bottom of Princes Street gardens being fairly level but the occasional Ghost of Nor'Loch which forms at the Mound end of the west gardens implies otherwise. It looked a wee bit deep for sploshing through in shoes I would then need to wear all day so I wandered around it on the grass. There was no wander-round-on-the-grass option to avoid the puddle underneath the gate into the churchyard but the gate featured a number of handy holds which could be used to climb over the shorter but still deeper-than-Plimsoll-line water without doing anything as sensible as walking around a different route, which I didn't quite have sufficient time to do as I was walking in.
