Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Autumn

Spent quite an amount of time and energy this morning adding the electric blanket and the winter part of the duvet, then wrestling the double weight into the duvet cover. And the duvet nearly won! It's almost November, but the nights have been mild.

JR has parent interviews till late afternoon, so Archie and I went to the Links for a romp. (He romped, I hobbled). What lovely sunshine and autumn colours, schoolchildren playing a ball game, their shrill little voices carrying in the still air...

This idyllic scene was spoilt only by a pile of discarded pizza boxes by a bench, which young Archie made a bee-line for. Silly boy - he missed the half eaten one on the bench (and it did look 'orrible) so I was able to grab it and pop it in a nearby litter bin. Which is where they should all have been, but don't get me started...

Need to pack our cases this evening - all three of us - we're off on a long weekend adventure on the morrow. This time Archie is coming too!

Detectorists are back on TV tonight. Yay!

Very sad to hear on the evening news that puffins are now on the endangered list.
