The second half of life..

Emotions running high

F arrived at Mum's first thing so T, F & I were able to begin what we all knew would be an emotionally draining and tense period during which we would need to work together to organise Mum's funeral, clean out her house and divide up her life's treasures and belongings.  It all felt so wrong - Mum, the woman who has bound us together since our respective births but not with us to complete what was the greatest challenge we've ever had to share.  Whilst she has been our 'glue' for so long, now it was our turn to take full charge and look after her final wishes.  We didn't get too far before high emotions ground us to a halt.  By the end of the day though her 'box' had been gone through, the will had been read, executor Uncle P (mum's 'little' brother) contacted, provision for probate had been started, the funeral directors had been contacted and a date provisionally set for the funeral.  We'd also visited the hospital to collect mum's death certificate, drank lots of coffee and quite a bit of wine, eaten very little and cried a lot .......
