Forward Marketing

Tony was doing his bit for marketing the upcoming Tour de Yorkshire Cycle Race at the end of this month on our circuit bike ride this morning.  We'll have to get thinking about where we are going to spectate pretty soon.  Sadly the 'all and sundry'  (Maserati Tour de Yorkshire) amateur ride will not be coming through our village this year.

My blip is taken on the Great Northern Trail just above the village of Cullingworth and we are both looking left to a huge housing development which is going up and which will considerably impact on the size of the village and its services - will the developers have funded a school extension or extra GPs etc etc as part of their plans?  Also, the finished houses all appear to be very nice, large and detached.  Will there be any social housing on the estate for those young couples who are just starting out or those folks with a smaller budget?  We watch with interest.

Mini rant:  Bill Bryson, despite loving us Brits, does bemoan the fact that some of us have become less well mannered over the years he has known us.  A case in point is that we stopped at some roadworks traffic lights on an uphill stretch of our ride this morning and waved through the three cars behind us so they would not be held up - not one driver waved a thankyou.
