For a change . . .

We decided to grow a different variety of cauliflower this year. It's called Romanesco, cultivated exactly the same, tastes pretty much the same, perhaps a bit "nuttier", and so far, hasn't gone to seed or blown like the traditional ones tend to do. Also, as the garden is a mixed veg and flower one, this fits in to both categories.

Seems a shame to cut them really, but last night's one with salmon and pasta was worth it!

Elsewhere in the garden the sparrows are feasting on the peas. Dozens of them descend before I am even back in the house! There is string, there are flapping brightly coloured polythene bags, there are sticks covering them, but they are bold little things and the peas obviously worth the hassle!
