The view from here

Probably the best theatre in the world?

This morning we went to the Minack Theatre in Cornwall, which is an amazing place cut into and built onto the cliffs near Porthcurno.

The Minack was the vision and labour of love of Rowena Cade, who began construction of the theatre in 1931 and continued her involvement until she died in the early 1980s. The view of the sea and cliffs is breathtaking and an evening performance also captures the sunset over the horizon.

This year we went to a children's performance by Squashbox Theatre, a local actor and puppeteer who is also one of the members of Cornwall's well-loved Kneehigh theatre company. It was great fun and a far better experience than the Shakespeare I went to see last time.

If you ever go to the Minack, it's worth also visiting Porthcurno Beach, one of my favourite beaches. There's something truly magical about it.
