Box Spanners

Out to see that other woman in my life, yes, my mother. She'd been so sharp on the phone a couple of days ago that I was a bit surprised to find her quite bewildered. She'd been into town for a hearing aid appointment but had come straight back as she'd arrived at the wrong time. She wasn't clear when the appointment was - it's tomorrow, so I wrote down the bus times for her.
And then we sat and chatted and she was full of stories of sailing up the Fleet with her Grandad as if it was yesterday. We enjoyed a dram of Jura and I left, instructing her on locking her front door. As the bus passed her door she was still there waving and I waved back, but I could tell she hadn't seen me.
