Old Man of Hoy
Well, that was a long day. We left the cottage at 7.45am to catch the 9.00am ferry to Scrabster. Once on the mainland we set off to drive the 366 miles to our overnight stop near Carlisle. We stopped a couple of times for a break and finally arrived at 7.45pm; 12 hours door to door. A quick freshen up and then a bite to eat and a couple of drinks and we're ready to crash out.
The ferry passed the Old Man of Hoy, of which I got a couple of not very good shots. It is probably stuck in the minds of people of my age as it featured in a very early live TV broadcast back in the late 1960's when a mountaineer climbed it for the first time. This was the best shot, but it's not great. For the record, I've also added an extra taken from the ferry showing circled on the left, the house modelled by Blipper StuartDB that I featured as an extra a few days ago, and on the right the cottage where we stayed. It was an excellent cottage and we will use it again; details available to anyone who is interested!
Another long drive home tomorrow, but thankfully not quite as long.
