Our Journey is a process

Winter is coming!

I took a walk before the winds hit.  A storm is on the way which will bring snow to the mountains and rain, possibly snow to the valley floor.  On my walk I stopped by the bridge that I blipped a few days ago.  Already most of the leaves have fallen, and the rest will blow away on the wind.  Tomorrow this scene will be dramatically different and devoid of leaves.

Thank you all for your caring comments regarding yesterday's photo.  My friend, R, is maintaining a very positive attitude, but the wait is the hardest.  He found that his brothers are not the right match for a bone marrow transplant.  But his doctor said that in the nationwide inventory there are over 700 bone marrow donors with a perfect match, and that 5 of them live in his area.  The doctor is contacting them for further testing and will let R know when he has found one.  Many of R's friends, us included, said that we would be willing to be donors, but the doctor said that there were plenty of others that had already been initially tested.  Even though it is a waiting game now, there is reason for optimism!

And yesterday, I went in for my physical.  On the surface, things look fine, but I had lots of blood tests. And I am due for another dreaded diagnostic procedure.  I am thankful for the technology but I hate the process of getting there.  Oh, and I ended up with a round of antibiotics for the recent case of "stuff" I got on my last trip to Africa.  Now, on to the eye specialist next week.

Ah . . . the aging process.  I just hope that I as I age, I will develop the character, smoothness, complexity and depth of a fine cabernet.

On the photographic side of things, I have been reading a little e-book published by a favorite landscape photographer.  She advises not reviewing you photos on the day that you take them.  Her reasoning is that when we take our photos we have a specific thing in mind, and when we review the same day, we will overlook the photos that did not achieve what we had in mind.  But if we wait a day at least, we may see something different - maybe not what we had in mind originally but maybe something better.  So, for the last few days I have been employing that approach.  I haven't been processing my photos until the next day, and then posting them a day late.  After about a week,  I will let you know if I agree with her assessment.
