Grand Canal from San Tomà

Today's the day . . . . . . . . . . . . for another world

No - you're not mistaken - this is a picture taken in Venice, just after we had disembarked from the vaporetto at SanTomà this afternoon.

I have to say that the weather was very similar to that which we'd left behind at Liverpool Airport - but the view down the Grand Canal was from another world entirely.  It was a bit like being on the set of a movie, except this was the real thing.  We're still a bit shell-shocked I think!

Off to find somewhere nice to eat something properly Italian . . . . .
