Demolished

We are having some of our old buildings demolished at school, to make way for new buildings.  They were to have been removed last week but a hold up with asbestos removal has meant that they only started today.

The first building to be 'eaten' is our school Whare - the home of Te Reo (Maori language) and tikanga (Maori culture) in our school.  We held a poropororaki (farewell ceremony) for the building at the end of the school year but it is still very sad to see it go.  Our only consolation is that by this time next year we should have a new, purpose built, Whare - and an appropriate opening ceremony.
