Mr Earwig's evening stroll

I found this beautiful earwig walking across the outside of my greenhouse this evening. It is a stunning little insect, all gold and chestnut brown. It is a common earwig (Forficula auricularia), and is a male (it has curved pincers or 'cerci'). The last time I blipped an earwig photo, Craig from Buglife Scotland told me that earwigs (which can fly) fold their wings up to 40 times to pack them away. The wings are, in fact, the golden area behind this earwig's head. This is one bonny little beast when seen close up like this.
