The People's Mountains

Much Larger Please!

The highest point in the Santa Rita Mountain range, and the highest point in the Tucson area, is Mount Wrightson, with an elevation of 9,453 feet (2,881 m). The range contains Madera Canyon, one of the world's premier birding areas. The Smithsonian Institution's Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory is located on Mount Hopkins. (You can see it if you look closely)

The range is one of the Madrean sky islands.

Rosemont Copper a Canadian firm, has proposed an open pit mine in the Santa Rita mountains. We are fighting tooth and nail against it to save our natural resouces and wildlife.

Look at these mountains.

They are almost spiritual to us.

They have a life of their own.

They are the people's mountains!

Vista in large if you haven't tried it yet.
