Turnip time

This morning after milking, the cows were put in the paddock of turnips, for the first time this season. It is interesting standing there with them, studying how they eat. First they pull the whole turnip from the soil but pulling from the top of the bulb, so the bulb is in their mouth first. Secondly they chew the bulb, and then with their tongue, they curl the leaf into their tongue and suck it into their mouth bit by bit. Most interesting!

I've just had to bring the washing in as it is starting to rain. It is cold here, we once again have fresh snow on the mountains. So much for summer.

Earthdreamer has just named this cute Jersey cow "Betty". So all you blippers reading this - let me introduce to you Betty!
