Lairig Leacach Bothy

So after last night's excellent do it's a 26.25km walk out to return to Roy Bridge. Both Mick & Kathy are up to it too, no need for them to hang around for the 21:19 train, although they did hang around a bit to keep Jean company who's heading south on the 18:25. However the rest of us returning to Roy Bridge were keen to find those stepping stones that would allegedly get us across the River Spean before sunset, so we headed off around 10:00. Kathy's departing words were that should take you five hours, my thoughts were more six and the reality was seven and a half. I was well and truly knackered by the end - any attempt to use the stepping stones was soon given up as I waded across as had the others although John did manage a quick dip en-route.

Today's photo is of the Lairig Leacach Bothy which at 13.5km is just over half way and at the start of an excellent track. It was a good spot for a rest and sandwiches, but the excellent track isn't quite so excellent in big mountain boots, the soles of my feet definitely felt its unforgiving hard surface.

Shower, change, met up with Mick and Kathy, meal in the Roy Bridge Hotel and I headed back to Perth. Knackered, but seem to have survived without catching any bugs - touch wood.
