Crap timing or what?!?!?!

First night of the residential trip that she's been looking forward to for about 5 years and she gets her finger stuck in a door (hinge side too!) and breaks it.

#%+@ is all I can say. I'm sure she might have said a similar thing, but I wasn't there to hear!

She was in a lot of pain, it looked a mess and needed a trip to get it seen to. The local clinic closed at 22:00 and it happened at that time. As I don't know Stockport or Macclesfield that were closer, I ended up driving to Chesterfield. So a 60 mile round trip and a two hour, yes two bloody hours, in A&E was far from what we expected the first night to be like.

The tip of the finger is a bit shattered and we have to keep it clean and dry to avoid infections. We got back at 02:30 in the morning, and with a 06:50 start this morning, we are both worse for wear about now. She was so upset that she had to miss out, it was heartbreaking to see. Poor kid.

She went home via school thanks to the best head teacher in the world (thank you so much), and has crashed all afternoon. She may be coming back for the evening meal and game, and maybe even stay over, but she's missed out on climbing, ropes and abseiling :(

My tiredness was tackled with a cold stream scramble in the morning, but I've had zero energy this afternoon so just watched the high ropes and climbing wall activities.
