Something fishy!

It's a blip and run today I'm afraid. A hectic but interesting day in school, three Russian children and their teacher were in for the day and we were presented with calendars and stickers in Russian. They have very little English so the going was quite tough and they had an immense journey to get to us and were exhausted. In the afternoon the man from Irish fisheries did his thing down at the river and I managed to sneak my big ones in on the act. He was looking at life in the river and had somehow collected about twenty fish (mild electric shocks were involved!) by the time we arrived, all arranged in group size buckets. I was amazed that not only brown trout (the big one) but salmon (the small one) were to be found. The children were encouraged to examine the fish, gently, then let them go. We also investigated the insects they were eating on and gasped at the array of wriggly (gnat lavae) and pincery things (Mayfly lavae). The extent of insect life proved our little river to be very clean.

It's Himself's birthday today, our trip to Clare was his main treat but it's chips and arthouse tonight - a dark Russian film about corruption. We know how to live, eh!!
