The Darling buds ....

... of March! A quick yomp around the circuit in a perishing easterly wind and temperatures only just above freezing, there are signs that spring is sprung. Violets, primroses and these optimistic horse chesnut leaves all sprouting forth.

Too cold to do much outside though I've sown a few more seeds - cosmos, poppies and dahlias join the other trays basking in the warmth of the conservatory and polytunnel.

A good day for a spot of genealogy and a wrestle with the complications of my Bacup weaving ancestors - so many multiple marriages; marriages of sisters to the same chap; marriages to next door neighbours; and everyone has the same name!!

Himself got David Attenborugh's Africa DVD for his birthday - we've just started watching it. The camera work and photography is astounding, nature is very beautiful but so tough - I'm already traumatised and it's only programme two.
