The second half of life..

My wheel fell off

The last time I mowed my lawns was about 10 days ago. Luckliy, the lack of a sufficient amount of rain has meant they've not grown too much - lucky because it's taken me 10 days to locate this beast which will hold the wheel on!

Earlier on I went to various hardware stores but no-one stocked anything even remotely like it.

Today I went to a specialist 'fastener' shop who stock almost every conceivable type of nut, bolt, screw, washer, thingy, wotsit and stuff . . . . . . just not one of these :(

They recommended I try a place over the road and down a bit. I headed over there, had a lovely chat to the nice man but alas, no star clip :( (apparently that's what they're called)

He recommended I try Blacks, a specialist shop over the road and down a bit . . . .

"I've just been there" I said. "It's on the right"

"No - it's on the left. Hylton Parker is on the right."

"Ah. That's who I went to. I didn't know there was another shop."

"There are 2 shops almost alongside one another. Go and try Blacks."

Why didn't Hylton Parker recommend I try them? Why send me over the road and down a bit when Blacks are 2 shops away!! I guess they're rivals - and who'd want to recommend a rival?!

I went to Blacks and another nice man spent 10 minutes shuffling through a tray of more stuff then emerged with this baby! Woo-hoo! Problem solved . . . . . except . . . .

I went to pay for it and discovered I didn't have a single cent in my purse.

"No problems" said the nice man "it's only a few cents. Take it as an Easter present or drop in next time you're passing if that makes you feel better"

Wow! Now that's looking after customers! I shall definitely go and pay for it after Easter and anytime I need any nuts, bolts, screws, washers, thingies, wotsits or stuff I shall be sure to go to Blacks first.

Off to drive the Molesworth tomorrow. It's not a long drive but I have no idea how long I'll take doing it. If the scenery is stunning and the weather is good I may just drift through slowly - spend time resting, relaxing and reading. There will be no internet or cell phone connection for much of the drive so blips will be posted when I'm re-connected with the world.

Which only leaves me to wish everyone a very happy Easter :) Catch you later
