Must see No.2

As requested by A Dogs Dinner and Mackintosh after my Italian Chapel blip the other day. I am going to attempt to do a intermittent 'tour' of must see things in Orkney.

This is the Gloup, a collapsed sea cave in Deerness. In high seas and stormy weather it becomes a blow hole with the sea rushing into the cave and spurting out of the top. So far I've not been tempted out in bad enough weather to witness this. It is a great destination for sea kayakers and divers. A friend described a dive that he did there on Hogmanay (yes, 31st December!!). He said he found himself quite far down bathed in eerie blue light facing spider crabs on shelfs in the cliff face whilst above him were seals swimming between him and the surface. I hope one day to go on one of these boat trips which goes inside the cave, amongst other things.

Our first blip visitor arrived today. I'll forgive him for not bringing Irn Bru as he's a bit peedie to carry the glass bottles.
