Snails on a wall

This is a tale of some snails on a wall
Like a similar tale you might recall
These took a choice to follow their notions
Which meant they missed out on sailing the oceans

From big snail to small they sat on the wall
Taking care not to teeter and fall
It might be apparent that I might have lied
For these are arranged and there's nothing inside

A whole day spent outside doing the garden
Bushes hacked back, roses pruned (I hate roses)
Concrete lifted, soil raked, ivy stripped off walls
Tea drunk, boys searching for worms, path swept,
path swept again, tools cleaned, tea drunk, the joy of sitting on the bare earth warming myself in the sun, the joy of seeing the boys totally absorbed by the garden and the neighbour's cat. Edges laid, bricks cleaned, ground all ready for sowing grass seed next week. The relaxation brought on by fresh air and physical work.

...and chicken curry for tea followed by a little fingernail sized piece of Easter egg offered by the boys.
