A Tribute to the Masters

It is Master's Sunday...late in the day. 2 players are tied for the lead as they approach hole #16. It is a par 3 that is 170 yards long. The hole is nicknamed Redbud.

The 2 players are Jason Day...hoping to be the first Australian to win the Masters...and...Tim Welker...a little known pro from Michigan.

Day hits a 7 iron...the ball drifts to the right...and finds the greenside bunker. Welker...also using a 7 iron...hits the ball straight and true. The ball is dialed in to the hole...as if on a mission. One bounce...a second bounce...then...KERPLUNK!!!...A HOLE IN ONE! Doing his best Bill Murray...Welker shouts..."IT'S IN THE HOLE! IT'S IN THE HOLE!"

Heading for home...Welker has 2 conservative pars...and The Masters title is his.

Last years winner...Bubba Watson...is waiting to present the coveted green jacket to Welker. Welker asks if the jacket comes in navy blue...saying he doesn't really like green. "It makes me look like Kermit the Frog."

How was he to know that you don't mess with tradition at Augusta National? Hootie Johnson...the club president...holds him by the shoulders...and Bubba Watson lands 3-4 punches into his mid-section. He then is shown the back door of the Butler Cabin to the tunes of..."AND DON'T EVER COME BACK!!"

One last jab from the downed and disgraced champion. "WHO NAMES THEIR KID BUBBA? WHO NAMES THEIR KID HOOTIE?"

I've watched a lot of golf this weekend. It is such a pretty place, and it always reminds me that Spring is right around the corner. Flowers blooming, and birdies singing...although not many birdies being made by the golfers.

You know how the old commercial plays. The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste. That also applies to the imagination. As the Masters winds down...I'm going upstairs to put on my green sweater.

Use YOUR imagination to picture golf shoes on my feet...instead of church shoes. OOPS!

P.S. Forgot to report that my camera got fixed. It has been out of commission since March 3rd. My local camera shop sent it in to Canon, and they fixed it as if it were still under warranty (it wasn't.) Very grateful to all involved.
