A Shadow of my Former Self

So this is what summer might be like. The gale force winds of yesterday have blown themselves into exhaustion and the sun has come out of retirement to shine from first light out of a blue sky.

Early on, the one white cloud hung on the horizon like an alien space craft, but its followers were soon backing up from the south, although they would never be able to conquer the blue. And already the students with their rugs and textbooks have taken to the grass over the railings. They must think summer has arrived too.

Don't you just love it when after a diet, which for 4 months seemed heavily weighted with sprouts and cabbage and days of minimal eating, you find that your favourite summer cropped trousers which you haven't been able to squeeze into for at least 3 years but have kept just in case you might one day fit them again, are now loose and threatening to slip off.
It must be one of the most wonderful feelings in the world.

The reality check is that these self same trousers are not exactly a size 0; there is still a long way to go before the size 10 trousers are loose enough to need a belt.
Bring on the salads.
