Breton greens

The countryside was all shades of green and spring blossom as we drove through a corner of Brittany this morning and these fishing huts on a small lake added to the range. Saint Malo was sadly grey, cold and uninviting in the drizzle at 9 a.m. as we drove away from the port. I took a few photos but they weren't very good - sorry, Kendall. Gradually, the clouds lifted as we travelled southwards, slowly, being reminded of how much we like Brittany, vowing to return for a longer stay very soon, stopping for photos of orchids (LoJ) and Breton cottages and a huge menhir with an unlikely story about it on the information board (me) and after we left Brittany and then crossed the Loire we could feel and see why the Coteaux de Layon is a wine-making area. We hadn't booked a hotel, having decided to just see how it went, but were surprised to find one possible choice full and another closed for holidays.....luckily found the last room at a hotel in Thouars where we spent a night about ten years ago and remembered the restaurant was very good, which it still is.

A couple of comments over the past few days have reminded me that I may not have made it clear what we were celebrating on Saturday - it was the continuation of the happy day in February when E and S were married.
