A rather frustrating day

Back blip on 10th July

After quite a good night's sleep, you would have thought I would wake refreshed and ready to go.  In fact, I woke feeling quite low, and several attempted phone calls to Estate Agents didn't help.  In England, I think you would be amazed that Estate Agents are not open on a Saturday, which is regarded as prime time for house hunting by people who work.  But in Ireland, it seems most are closed.  So it was impossible to make any arrangements to view houses next week.  I have the mobile number for one agent, who is supposed to be organising a viewing for Monday, and he did answer, but continues to be vague about a time.  There is another house we want to view on Monday – the agent responsible is on holiday, and the office can't get hold of him, and don't seem to be able to make appointments on his behalf, so we have to wait till Monday morning for him to contact us!

All in all, a frustrating hour or so.

We then drove to the nearest charger, had coffee whilst charging up the car, and decided to do a drive by viewing on one house that we might consider.  An interesting drive into the wilds of County Mayo, and a definite decision that this house was just TOO rural.

By now, despite our poached eggs for breakfast, we were feeling decidedly peckish.  We were driving down a major road, passing through small towns, thought it would be a simple matter to find a restaurant, but actually really struggled.  We were only about 8 miles from our lodgings, and had resigned ourselves to salad, cheese and fruit for dinner, when I spotted this sign.

We had a lovely meal of salmon in a crab meat sauce, with chips and salad.  W watched the TV over my head, and tried to get to grips with the rules of Gaelic football.  As we drive around at the moment, we see many flags and signs supporting various county teams.
