Wood Anemone

Open garden today in South Harting, lovely village at the foot of and on the lower slopes of the South Downs. Seven acres of gardens, woodland and wildflowers, with a couple of golf tees thrown in. How the other half live. Wood Anemone, anemone nemorosa or Windflower is one of my favourites. Never seen so many, carpets of them.

We had tea on the terrace but it was pretty cold and not really fit for sitting out. But it was wonderful to get out in the woods again.

Star-like they sprinkle
The wildwood with light;
Countless they twinkle
The Windflowers white!

Song of the Windflower
