First stage....

Here is the first layer of cold wax and oil over THIS ....boy what a difference scale makes.   Had to make much larger amounts of paint....and move the scrapers around with more energy and vigour....i'm loving it!   It's now at the  point of having a lot of wet paint and so i'll have to wait a bit till things firm up a bit...or i'll end up mushing up the colours......this is such a difficult place to be - i want to continue but i know from experience that things will go to shit really quickly.   This is why many artists have 2-3 paintings on the go at once.   so onto something else for the afternoon!

Very appropriate music playing today!    this was an album i once took home to Scotland when i was much younger, like maybe 27-28 or something.  My dad was a professional musician (only part time) and a great lover of jazz...for some reason i was reminded of this album the other day....He and i were much alike - liked to be listening to music and having a wee dram just on our own, while my gregarious mum loved being with a crowd and laughing and dancing (i have a bit of her in me too :) ) I took this home to let him listen to it....as we sat in our little living room together, listening, with his eyes closed,  his only comment was "Magic".   such a lovely memory of my dad!

wet and dreary but warmer.....expecting lots of rain today !
