Winter Gardens Rothesay

Tuesday 14th

Not a very promising start today. When I looked out of the window it was raining heavily and it didn't look like it would be stopping soon.
Not to be daunted by the weather we decided that we would have a trip over to Bute.
We made our way round to Colintraive where we caught the ferry for the very short crossing to Rhubodach on Bute.
We journeyed round to Rothesay and the tourist information centre where we got details about Mount Stuart. The shot is of the Winter Gardens Rothesay where the Tourist Information is housed.
This a place which neither of us had visited before and as the weather had improved a great deal since the early morning we thought we would all enjoy a walk round the gardens.
When we arrived at Mount Stuart we found that we had left behind Maeve's lead but a friendly bus driver who operates the shuttle bus from the visitors centre to the house said he could give us the use of a length of blue rope which would serve as a temporary lead.
Problem solved we then set off to walk in the gardens of Mount Stuart.
Unfortunately the earlier heavy rain had made the paths very wet and muddy but we did manage a reasonable walk.
Blue rope returned to friendly bus driver we headed back to Rothesay stopping off at the lovely little tea room at Craigmore Pier where we had a lovely lunch with superb views of the surrounding area and ferries coming in and out of Rothesay.
Arrived back at the ferry terminal just in time to catch the ferry.
We are now enjoying the late afternoon sun in the garden of our cottage. The views of snow covered peaks of Arran are lovely especially in the late afternoon light.
A lovely way to round off our day.
