Sonnenuntergang am Meer

It's Fronleichnam (or Corpus Christi) in Germany and for most of my family a 4-day weekend. We had planned a day trip to Amsterdam but when we checked the weather forecast this morning, it didn't strike us as too inviting.

A spontaneous decision to chase the sun led us, surprisingly, northward. This afternoon we arrived in Hohwacht, on the Baltic coast, and tomorrow morning we'll catch the ferry to Denmark and spend the day in Copenhagen. Only the boys came with us, as my oldest daughter has school tomorrow and the second daughter has a birthday party to attend.

It was glorious to drive away from the rain and walk along the sea, basking in warmth and sunshine. Then there was this beautiful sunset to crown the evening in gold.
