What a State...

My Art Deco project is up and running again after something of a hiatus. This was originally built in 1938 as the State Cinema on Great Junction Street in Edinburgh. It was rather grand in its day (described as a 'luxury supercinema' apparently), with four screens, two billiard rooms, a skittle alley, and four shops. These days it is a marker of somewhat faded glamour - some odd church that appears to be Christian, but linked to supernatural and extra-terrestrial goings-on, hosts events there. Some of the interior Deco touches are still supposed to be intact, but not sure if I'll manage to get inside to see.

That was all on a bit of a ride before breakfast, which took in a loop around Arthur's Seat, and another Deco building on Chambers Street, before much of the day taken up with sitting in the sun eating the delayed breakfast, and painting the front of the house. Got about halfway so far - I think the colour is a vast improvement; Mel is reserving judgement until the rest is done (at which point I may have to start again with another colour).

Planning on updating the BlipBigYear list now, which may take some time. Tomorrow I'm looking forward to - off to Thirlestane Castle for a classic car show (and pondering parting with some money for charity this time to get a ride in one of my dream cars (if it's there)).
