Lakes

One of my current books - The Invisible by Peter Papathanasiou - is set in northwest Greece, on the shores of Great Prespa Lake. He describes it as

“ ... a region not largely seen by outsiders and not on the tourist trail…” and as “complex” with “understandable sensitivities”.

It is where the borders of Albania, North Macedonia and Greece converge.

I had a lovely visit to the region in 2011, but on the North Macedonian side. The book is reviving memories of some of the adventures we had there, and of some of my companions.

Good food and wine. Excellent company. Stunning scenery. And yes, no tourists.
