Saints and flowers

We wandered up to the stone circle last night at around 10pm to watch the super moon rise. It's quite a hefty walk upwards and we stood and stared and the clouds were thick. We had just walked down, a small path, teeny steps cut into the earth, a waterfall, when the glimmer of a moon appeared so we hurtled back up - well worth it, a fat and smiling moon brushed across the mountains. Even later I went down to the Air India Memorial again and just sat for a bit. It is somehow even more poignant at night for candles had been lit and the wall of photos illuminated. That and the full moon- something special.

Today, amongst other things, I have been trying to find the remains of Bantry Abbey, which are well hidden amongst the large town cemetary which covers a hillside overlooking Bantry Bay. Friedaquilter will understand when I say that wandering around a cemetary is a rewarding and fascinating business. I found the remains of the Abbey, a few stones now made into an altar, but I was intrigued by the memorials left on the graves, especially the little round glass globes full of saints and flowers. This is one, I think there's a teeny statue of th BVM in there somewhere too.
