Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2024 — Sunday’s Sundown

At 7:36 pm I walked to the most southern location in our front room, lowered the window, then lowered the half screen, leaned out to get a good angle, and captured the final view of the sun on this last Sunday in April. The change in the earth’s position the past 4 weeks is more noticeable than usual because the sun no longer appears to be descending into the ocean, but now over the hills north of us.

After church this morning we drove to the harbor to take a peak at the kites that were being flown. This weekend has been the annual kite festival in Morro Bay. We thought we might go back there later in the day, but we did not.

We arrived back at the house and barbecued some burgers for lunch and then enjoyed a leisurely afternoon. This was a very sunny day, which caused our little house of many windows to be comfortably warm even though the air outside has a slight chill. Our little neighborhood was quiet today with no one in the vacation homes near us.

Mr. Fun sat with me at the dining room table late in the afternoon to do the brief study for tomorrow morning’s women’s Bible study that I participate in on Mondays. “Women of the New Testament” is the focus of our study; I find it to be meaningful and contain a lot of depth when the women get out their “mining tools” and dig for the deeper meanings contained in the Scripture. Jesus’s respect for women and the value He had for them is so very affirming. I find it extremely sad that so many people want to claim that Christianity belittles women; they should look deeper, Jesus honors women. The modern translations of the Bible are not difficult to understand, but too many people are not willing to read them. So many people want to go to Heaven when they die, but most do not want to be Christ followers on earth. Tragic!

Before the sundown show began, we enjoyed delicious homemade tacos for our evening meal. Shredded lettuce, diced tomato, grated cheese, chopped onion, Ortega chili, an optional avocado, and ground beef sautéd in sodium-less spices combined in a flour tortilla created a savory and satisfying meal.
