For Mum.....

A fine mist hugged the distant range,  the air was fresh and salty as a couple walked their dogs, flat as a pancake the sea calmly lapped the shore while ripples of clouds engulfed the sky. Sounds of gulls shrieked along the beach, no rustling from the grasses as the sun warmed our backs, it was the calmest winter day we've had for a while, it was nice just to sit and savour the view.

As mum and I walked backed to the car a little 'cheet cheet' could be heard. On looking up we spied a wee fantail flickering in and out of the pine trees, the light touching his little tail. I don't know why it is but we always say 'there's a wee fantail', followed by 'can you see it.....there.....up there'.....and if I have the camera mum says 'did you get it.....did you get it'.....and then we have a chuckle. Some stop to admire the wee fantail while others seem to be oblivious to their surroundings and just plod on by.

Lovely to have some time with mum today down by the beach, followed by hot bowls of curried kumera soup and then off to do our grocery shop. Its these days each of us treasure, a time for a wee chat and just being together - for you mum, I know you didn't want to leave the beach :)

Try this in large to savour the view....

And now I must fly and put my groceries away - Happy Thursday everyone :)
