Peewit Spring

It's a long time since I mentioned the sad state of the Comiston Springheads and our hope that the Council would intervene before they all fell into disrepair.
Although this one has been repaired (thanks to the intervention of our Councillor), there are two others that are almost invisible, such is the growth of vegetation through and surrounding them. This is the more obvious of the two and has a pretty sculpted roof.

They lie in the grounds of a primary school that was demolished in August 2008, following a fire after it was left empty; the ground has been unused ever since. These springs were fenced off from the playground so are relatively safe from vandalism but remain unprotected from the invasion of trees and their root systems forcing apart stonework and compromising the structure.

I am aware that our Councillor was in negotiation with Scottish Water, who own the springs, and the Council, on whose ground they lie. I just hope some resolution is made before these are considered beyond repair.
