Pollen Feast

Today sunshine and blue skies prevailed again and the bees were back on the job collecting pollen. I caught this worker having a feast in one of the lavatera blooms that featured in my blip on Friday.

I applied a paint daubs filter and posterised the image to bring out the copious grains of pollen adhering to the bee's body. Great to see that so many of the flowers are receiving the bees' attention this year with all the fears about the steep decline in their numbers.
