Cairngorm & the Lairig Ghru from Upper Tullochgrue

A warm, very windy day. We decided to explore a forest path new to us in Rothiemurcus. We walked from Inverdruie, to Upper Tulloch, on to Lochan Deo and then followed the river Beaniadh back to Coylumbridge. About 5.5 miles.

I love this view, the heather in the foreground, the wind swept trees, the view up to Cairngorm, including the Mountain Railway. A touch of snow in Coire Cas, and the start of the Lairig Ghru pass on the right. We've walked and climbed in this area for many years, I love this part of our beautiful country.

And as a reward, we had tea and cake at The Potting Shed, one of Britain's best cake shops. Whilst indulging, we spotted two red squirrels, a woodpecker, and many other birds, including a poor wee thing which had lost a foot.

Catching up with backblips from our recent holiday. Yesterday Fyvie Castle.
