Head and tail!

A flat calm, still evening, thick with midges in the garden, so after tea we decided to take the dinghy out and have a pootle around the bay. Ollie came too, all three of us in our life jackets!

We have an electric motor, run from a car battery, and it is very quiet. We got pretty close to the seals, then turned it off and just sat for ages, drifting a little with the tide, watching them lying on the rocks along the shore, swimming round the boat and snorting at us! One was so close we could hear it breathing. They are so inquisitive and seem keen to see just what we are doing - probably they can smell Ollie too. He is very good, watches them, but knows he must stay in the boat!

On the way back there were lots of jellyfish about - bright purple ones, but the seal won out as today's blip!
