Taste of Trier

We headed for France today, but stopped for lunch and a little sightseeing in Trier (aka "Treves" in English) a beautiful city on the Moselle river, a stone's throw from Luxembourg.

Historic records date back to 16BC, making Trier possibly the oldest city in Germany. We lunched outdoors near the main market square, in the shadows of a majestic cathedral. Afterwards, we toured the Roman ruins of Porta Nigra -with fabulous vistas from the upper floors - before continuing on to our ultimate destination: Strasbourg, France.
