The Torrance

Built in 1773 by General Stuart of Torrance as a cotton-spinning mill and workers' houses the building in Torrance Square provided a focus for town life. In its many incarnations the popular Torrance Hotel has also housed a school, a shop and a Coaching Inn, but it has always been at the heart of East Kilbride. The building has retainained all its original character and charm.

It has recently had a refurbishment to bring it up to a very high standard, and is becoming even more popular. The HG and I had dinner here tonight, courtesy of a neighbour as a thank you for a favour. It was really nice, the first time we had been there since its refurbishment, and we were very impressed.

The HG had soup, then chicken stuffed with haggis, then sticky toffee pud. I had chicken liver pate, then sea bass, then cheesecake, and all the dishes were delicious.

Home now with a cup of good coffee.

Weather started off wet this morning, but it dried up in the afternoon and we had sunshine.
