Still Humming, but Not Flying

The baby hums are still here. Occasionally their mom flies in for a quick stop and to stuff something down their throats, but she no longer stays, and she does not sit with them all night. I think there is no room for her.

The house painters were supposed to arrive today. Before we left for spring break, we had booked the painters to start the huge job of making this house look like new on the outside. When we arrived home Saturday afternoon and discovered that the baby hummingbirds were still in the nest, we were quite perplexed.

So yesterday afternoon Mr. Fun phoned the painter; he actually answered his phone and when Mr. Fun asked to postpone the painting for another two weeks, the painter said, "No problem."

We were quite surprised that the painter so easily agreed to postponing the job, but we thought these two hummers are much more important than paint. We think the babies should be gone sometime in the next two weeks.
