101 ways with a glacier

Just how many ways can you photograph a glacier? Endless it seems, and as this glacier dominates the views in this valley there will be many more photos of it. Today, despite being blue skies and sunny - yes good weather at last - I decided to go for a mono finish as it shows the texture of those wonderful clouds better.

The boys spent the day at the pool while I bought groceries for the weekend - the shops are not open in Switzerland on a Sunday, very inconvenient!

Luke video-called me from Munich and it seems he is enjoying his course very much, despite it being very intensive. He is sure to be completely fluent in German by the time he finishes it. He was lucky enough to meet up with some school friends who are inter railing through Europe and were in Munich, and he sent his dad a photo of his large tankard of beer from the Hofbrauhaus (a famous beer hall) saying...you wish you were here!

Gavin is coming out to Switzerland for the weekend and silly me mentioned that tomorrow the Swiss Alpine Marathon is taking place here. It is the highest altitude marathon in Europe run over mountain tracks up and down the mountains. Gavin has decided to do it but thankfully has entered the half marathon which is tough enough - 21 km on narrow mountain tracks ascending 500m, running at this high altitude which he is not used to. I hope to get some photos of this event tomorrow,.
