Boats at Broadford, Isle of Skye

We've packed the sight-seeing in again today. Started off at the Steam Railway at Boat of Garten. Not only did we see a steam train, but also The Royal Scotsman, a fine dining train experience costing c. £1k per person per day!

Then off to try and spot Nessie! Torrential rain when we arrived at Castle Urquhart, but this led to some very atmospheric shots. Beseiged by the Great Scottish Midge - out came the Jungle Formula, Skin So Soft and Smidge. I still got bitten. Rather pleased when a piper appeared in full highland dress amongst the castle ruins. Guests were delighted, cameras were clicking. Followed this with tea, scones, clotted cream and jam.

A wonderful drive heading west, with beautiful views through Glen Shiel of the Five Sisters of Kintail. Had our Dougie McLean with RSNO CD playing, just right for the location. Mist swirling around the peaks. Fantastic.

More excitement when we stopped an Eilean Donan Castle. Saltire blowing in the wind, rain had lifted, low tide, so lots of good seaweed in the foreground shots.

Over the bridge to the Isle of Skye, and an excellent meal at The Harbour Restaurant at Broadford, a traditional taste of Spain on Skye. I had Our Famous Hot Seafood Cocktail (Frito Marinero), followed by Sea Bream with rice. Delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant, booking advised.

Now in the middle of nowhere, being eaten by more aggressive midges. No mobile signal, but there is a good wifi signal.
