Ken Burns and Geoffrey C. Ward are historians...

...writers, and producers of historical films. Between them they have written and produced many wonderful documentaries, such as The War: 1941-1945; The Civil War; Jazz; Baseball, and many others. They know how to tell intimate and gripping stories, and today at Chautauqua we were fortunate to be in the audience for their very personal preview of their newest production, The Roosevelts: An Intimate History in which they explore the lives of Theodore, Franklin, and Eleanor Roosevelt, three famous Americans who shared the same last name from birth. I only wish I could have been there all week to hear all five installments of their lecture. Friday's lecture included several clips from the film that I am now very eager to see when it is aired in September. Already in the works are Vietnam and several other film titles that literally rolled off Burns' tongue when he was asked what else we could look forward to. The scope of the works they have produced is amazing.

Following the lecture, audience members had an opportunity to speak to and even be photographed with Burns and Ward. That is when I was able to capture this photo.
