YES in Kenmure Street

En route to the Library, I noticed the posters and flag on a tenement flat. Decided it was about time to post an entry or two related to the upcoming Scottish Independence Referendum.

Since The Commonwealth Games ended, the news and press have been full of YES, NO and UNDECIDED stories. And of course there was The Debate, which wasn't really that interesting. The BBC have just announced another debate between Alex Salmond and Alistair Darling on 25 August. It will be held at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, and broadcast across the UK. On BBC One Scotland at 20.30 and across the rest of the UK on BBC2. It will also be streamed on Radio Scotland and Radio Nan Gaidheal.

We had a booklet posted through the door today, "Your Choice, Opportunities in an Independent Scotland". That makes five quality publications received now, including one from The Electoral Commission and another from The Scottish Government. Also a news piece making sure everyone who wants to vote has registered. This is the first time 16 and 17 year olds will get a vote. There is serious money being donated towards advertising on both sides.

I am not stating my point of view here, but I'll be looking out for some more related shots in the build up. Voting is on Thursday 18 September, so five weeks to go.

Interesting to note that when we were up in Orkney and Skye this summer, we didn't see a single item of advertising for or against. Once back in Central Scotland, the debate is quite evident.

I wonder if we will find out the breakdown across the regions of how people have voted, or will it simply be so many for YES and NO.

The question on 18 September is "Should Scotland be an independent country?"
